About SIDE SHOW:

Queen City Concerts is pleased to present SIDE SHOW (1997 Broadway Version) as our second annual gala event! With book and lyrics by Bill Russell (ELEGIES FOR ANGELS, PUNKS AND RAGING QUEENS, PAGEANT) and music by Henry Krieger (DREAMGIRLS, THE TAP DANCE KID), SIDE SHOW tells the true story of conjoined twins, Violet and Daisy Hilton. Told almost entirely in song, the show follows their progression from England to America, around the vaudeville circuit, and to Hollywood on the eve of their appearance in the 1932 movie "Freaks."

SIDE SHOW is a moving portrait of two women joined at the hip whose extraordinary bondage brings them fame but denies them love. As time progressed, their story ended in Charlotte, North Carolina, where their tour manager abandoned them in 1961. They got a job at a local grocery store and worked there until their deaths in January, 1969.

With a company of local Charlotte actors and musicians, Queen City Concerts' summer gala event is a night not to be missed! Join us as we present the original 1997 Broadway version of SIDE SHOW!

About this production:

This production will be performed cabaret style—with the entire front orchestra turned into premiere cabaret/table-side seating—and traditional theatre seating in the rear orchestra and gallery levels. Patrons in the cabaret seating will receive exclusive QCC gala event swag.
