About the show:
From the creators of the Tony Award-winning FALSETTOS (William Finn and James Lapine), A NEW BRAIN is the energetic, sardonic, and often comical musical about a composer during a medical emergency. Gordon (the composer) collapses during lunch and awakes in the hospital– only to find himself surrounded by his lover, his mother, a co-worker, the doctor, and the nurses. Throughout the course of the musical (and his medical ordeal), he is haunted by Mr. Bungee - the frog featured in the children’s television show for which Gordon is in the process of writing. Ultimately, Gordon learns that “heart and music” are what get us through and give us the courage to keep fighting.
A NEW BRAIN originally premiered off-Broadway in 1998 at Lincoln Center Theatre with a cast that included Malcolm Gets, Kristin Chenoweth, Chip Zien, and Mary Testa. In June of 2015, it was presented by New York City Center Encores with a cast including Jonathan Groff and Ana Gasteyer. Queen City Concerts is thrilled to present this production in the Stage Door Theatre in March of 2026.
This production is recommended for ages 12 and up and contains adult language.
A NEW BRAIN is presented through special arrangement with Concord Theatricals.
