About the show:

A love letter to New York City, DARLING GRENADINE, with book, music, and lyrics by Daniel Zaitchik, tells the story of a young songwriter falling in love with a charming chorus girl. However, not all stories have a Cinderella ending. With a bittersweet and moving score, this modern-day love story takes unexpected twists and turns as we learn more about Harry (the composer) and his precarious relationship with his girlfriend (Louise). Alongside Harry’s journey is his brother (Paul) and his Labrador Retriever (also named Paul).

Queen City Concerts takes this intimate and magical musical to the Stage Door Theatre in an environment reminiscent of Joe’s Pub in NYC. With cabaret and bar rail seating, the audience begins to feel as if they are inside of Paul’s piano bar: Standards. Through a series of flashbacks that feel, at times, like memories from just moments ago, Harry recounts his story to all who are willing to listen.

Presented in 2020 at Roundabout Underground in NYC, QC Concerts is thrilled to bring this musical to the Queen City and is presently the only company in America to bring this musical back to the stage.

This production is recommended for ages 12 and up and contains mild adult language and substance abuse.

DARLING GRENADINE is presented through special arrangement of Music Theatre International (MTI).
