About the show:
The American tribal love rock musical HAIR celebrates the sixties counterculture in all its barefoot, long-haired, bell-bottomed, beaded and fringed glory. Winner of multiple Tony and Grammy Awards, the energetic rock score includes songs such as “Aquarius,” “Good Morning Starshine,” “Hair,” and “Let the Sunshine In.” Exploring ideas of identity, community, global responsibility, and peace, HAIR remains relevant as ever as it examines what it means to be a young person in a changing world.
HAIR contains music by Galt MacDermot with book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado. The musical, which premiered off-Broadway at the Public Theatre in 1967, has received several Broadway productions (1968, 1977, and 2009), and remains a signature piece of musical theatre history, transforming the landscape of theatre as one of the early rock musicals to hit the mainstream stage.
This production is recommended for ages 16 and up and contains adult language and substance abuse.
HAIR is presented through special arrangement with Concord Theatricals.
